6 Easy steps to keep your social media accounts secure
We’ve all heard the stories – Instagram accounts hacked, Facebook logins blocked, access denied. It can be a nightmare, and once the damage is done it can be very difficult to recover your account. Don’t let it be you!
1. Update your passwords
Standard rules apply – use a unique and different password for each account. At Rose Digital we recommend changing your passwords at least once every 6 months.
Easy trick? Set a reminder on your calendar.
2. Find a system
Use a system to store your passwords securely somewhere. Use a Password manager app – our favourite is Last Pass.
3. Use 2-factor authentication
This is one of the strongest ways to secure your logins and uses an app on your phone (or text message) to confirm that you are the account owner.
4. Add another admin that you trust
This is mostly for Facebook and Google Ads: it is a good idea to add a family member or trusted friend as an admin to your accounts.
5. Delete old users
If you have Facebook pages, log in and delete any old users. *As social media managers we can confirm that we have many pages still linked from years ago.
6. Lock your phone
Add a passcode to your phone right now so that if it falls into the wrong hands, there is at least one layer of security.
